Common questions
Who is the electric utility in 45831?
AEP Ohio delivers power to most of 45831 (Continental) and handles outages and repairs. Some addresses in and around 45831 are served by an electric cooperative such as Midwest Electric. Co-op members aren't part of Ohio's choice program, so check who sends your electric bill.
What areas does 45831 cover?
Most mapped businesses in 45831 are inside Continental village limits. The ZIP also reaches into Dupont. The mailing city is Continental, and your utilities follow the address, not the mailing city.
How many businesses are in 45831?

Can I choose my electricity provider in 45831?
Yes, if your bill comes from AEP Ohio. Ohio lets homes and businesses buy power from a certified retail provider while AEP Ohio keeps delivering it. You can also stay on the standard offer.
What is AEP Ohio's Price to Compare?
It's the per-kWh supply price you pay AEP Ohio if you don't pick a provider. It's printed on your bill and changes during the year. An offer only saves money if it beats that number over the whole contract.
Who do I call when the power goes out in 45831?
Call AEP Ohio at 800-672-2231 or report it online. Your retail provider doesn't fix lines. If a line is down, stay away from it and call 911.
Is 45831 in an electric aggregation program?
Many Ohio cities, villages and townships buy power for residents through an aggregation program. Check the supply section of your AEP Ohio bill or ask the Village of Continental whether you're enrolled. You can still choose your own provider.
Who provides natural gas in 45831?
Gas service maps in 45831 show more than one system, including West Ohio Gas Co and KNG Energy, and some rural addresses use propane. Check a recent gas bill for the property. If you smell gas, leave right away and call 911 from outside.
