Champion Energy

Champion Energy is a Texas retail electric provider now under Constellation, through Constellation's acquisition of Calpine that closed January 7, 2026. This page is a comparison guide, not a Champion sales site. WattKarma is a PUCT-licensed broker. We show Champion plans when they appear in your ZIP catalog alongside other REPs — same Electricity Facts Label rules, no invented ¢/kWh.

Champion is Constellation via Calpine — not NRG, not Vistra.

Champion Energy came into Constellation with Calpine. That transaction closed January 7, 2026. We will say that and stop. We do not invent a Champion customer count, a leftover Calpine retail slogan, or a sister brand we do not have on this site.

Champion is not an NRG Texas retail brand. It is not a Vistra / TXU brand. It is not NextEra. If another page still files Champion under an old parent, treat that as stale. We reviewed this ownership line on September 10, 2026.

Ownership does not set your ¢/kWh. A Constellation-owned REP and an NRG-owned REP can sit in the same ZIP with different terms, different credits, and different averages at 500, 1,000, and 2,000 kWh. Shop the EFL, not the parent press release.

Shop the Champion Energy EFL — not a typed rate.

In Texas, a Champion Energy plan must publish an Electricity Facts Label. The EFL shows an average price at 500 kWh, 1,000 kWh, and 2,000 kWh. The 1,000 kWh column is the number most ads lean on. It is not always the number you will pay in a mild month or a cooling-season month.

At 500 kWh, base charges and minimum-usage fees can dominate — apartments and low-AC months live here. At 1,000 kWh, a usage credit can make a plan look cheaper than it is when you miss the credit band. At 2,000 kWh, Texas summer, those credits can dilute. Read all three columns, the term length, and the early termination fee before you enroll.

Ohio does not issue a Texas EFL. If you are shopping Ohio, the honest benchmark is the Price to Compare on the utility bill — not a Champion Energy ¢/kWh typed on this page. Maryland allows supply choice, but online shopping on this site is not fully wired. We do not invent a Champion Energy enrollment there.

We will not publish a sample Champion Energy rate here. Live ¢/kWh require your ZIP. Method last reviewed September 10, 2026.

WattKarma is a licensed broker — not the Champion Energy website.

This is not a Champion Energy landing page and not a cloned sales site. WattKarma is a licensed energy broker: Texas PUCT #BR220202, Ohio PUCO #22-104905E, and Maryland MD PSC #IR-5469. We compare the retail electric providers that actually appear in your ZIP catalog.

If you enroll through us, the provider pays us a commission. You are not charged a broker fee to compare. That commission does not change the published EFL price or the contract you sign. Our incentive is to show real options — not to push Champion Energy or to hide Champion Energy.

Champion Energy may be in your results. Champion Energy may be missing. If it is missing, we show who is there instead of inventing a Champion Energy card or a sample ¢/kWh. That is the honest shop. Enter a ZIP or call 855-952-WATT (9288).

A comparison page is not a promise that we always have Champion Energy, that Champion Energy is cheapest, or that the parent company means a better or worse rate. Ownership is a fact. Price is a ZIP result. Delivery and outages stay with the TDU — Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, TNMP, or LP&L in Texas — not with Champion Energy and not with WattKarma.

Same EFL rules after a parent change.

A closed acquisition does not rewrite yesterday's Electricity Facts Label. When a Champion plan appears, read the current EFL — term, average prices at the three checkpoints, early termination fee, and any usage credit band. Do not assume a Constellation logo changes those numbers.

We do not list a Champion sibling on this site. See the providers hub for every brand we compare. Switching Champion does not change who owns the wires or who restores an outage.

No invented sister brands.
